Moving Day

Standard

Yep, you read it right. This lovely blog is moving! I’m sure you were just getting all settled in too. The problem I had was that I had different blogs/sites for different things and it was getting too hard to keep track of them all. I’ve put them all together into one new site though and I hope that you’ll all follow me there! The new sites URL is:

http://scumblingcreativity.weebly.com/index.html

You can read all about the different parts on the home page there!

Although I’m going to miss this site terribly, I’ve convinced myself that this change is a good thing!

I hope to see you all soon!

Hello everyone! Gee, it hasn’t even been too long! Only a week, thats hardly any time at all. I’m posting now to tell you all about a non-design project…well, almost 🙂

I’m working on learning a bit more about sweater design, I found this adorable little pattern called Baby Sophisticate by Linden Down  It’s really sweet and it has those nice sleeves I’ve been wanting to learn to make! If you see the picture you’ll know exactly what I mean, I’m sure. I decided that it was such a small project that it would be fine for me to alter a few things to see how it turned out. Of course I’ll keep you updated on all of my progress here but you can also see my notes and lots of progress pics on my project page here! I’m going to (try at least) making it a closed sweater and adding a little hood (you can see my full notes on the project page ^^) and I’ll also jot down all of my modifications for any one else to try out if they wish to.

Heres a quick (not so great) progress pick for you to see:

I’ve already started working around instead of flat and it’s very quick!

Also we (meaning me mostly, probably) have to remember that the gift-giving holidays are coming! This means terrible business for me, rushing for some last minute gifts. Now I’m going to let you all in on a little secret, promise you won’t tell? Oh, I know I can trust you 😉 Numbers 1-5 in my Ravelry queue are all gifts for people! I havn’t started any project pages yet as not to arouse suspicion and curiosity from my crafting relatives! But come December 25th, WHAM!, expect a sudden project boom! And a very lengthy post over here from me of course! All the rest of the projects that are in my wishlist are really very wonderful, you might want to check them out!

Good morning everybody!

I am proud to report that I have finished my November Designers Challenge!

I’m calling it Transitions for now. Here’s a link to my Ravelry Project Page, and a link to the thread in the Testing Pool Group where I’m having it tested (just in case anyone’s interested).

Only a short post for this early in the morning. Happy Thanksgiving!

Moonage Daydream

Last months designers challenge was to make a cabled, autumn leaf inspired cowl. I finished!

(clicking either of the pictures should take you to the Ravelry project page)

I used a lace pattern at the top that reminded me of falling leaves and cables at the bottom. Unfortunately I haven’t gotten a chance to take any really wonderful pictures because of the nasty weather. as soon as the skies clear up I’ll be sure to add some pictures to the project page 🙂

I don’t think I’ll be publishing this pattern any time soon as I’m working on too many things to put the time into writing it up and having it tested right now. Perhaps sometime in the future if a lot interest is shown in it.

This months challenge is to create a black and white head accessory using colorwork.

Ideas are already brewing in my head and I can’t wait to share them all with you!

Welcome Back!

Standard

Hello! Welcome to my new and improved blog! I’ve finally decided on the theme, I think it’s just gorgeous, don’t you? I suppose you’ll be wanting the Grand Tour now.  I’m sure you’ve noticed the three pages ^^^, Home is still home, I should start you off with that. Home is where you can find my most recent blog posts all in one place.

To the right of home, you’ll find Kitsch. Kitsch is my new “About Me” page. If your looking to get in contact with me please check it out!

The last of our lineup is Krafty. I have listed for your use, my Ravelry and Etsy links there, enjoy!

I’m sure you’ve also noticed the sidebar to your right >>>

It’s changed a bit now. At the top theres a little search bar that will find anything on my blog. Just below that is a list of my most recent posts. Clicking any one of them will take you directly to that post. Then there is a list of blogs I follow and a jumble of categories if your looking for something in particular.

Now for some exciting news! I didn’t get the chance to tell you about the October designers challenge yet did I? Well it’s a really great one with wonderful prizes 🙂

The Challenge is to create a cowl/infinty scarf, using cables, with a theme of autumn leaves. You can view the entire page here on Ravlery.

Anyhoo, I’ve been working on mine and I just can’t wait to show it to you!

Oh, I do have to go now, but please enjoy exploring the new blog without me!

So  how is everyone? Have you noticed the (again) changes here? I’m just having an awful hard time deciding on one thing that really “represents me” as a crafter, I suppose its because I’m not entirely sure where I am right now! I’ve decided to completely update my crafting ventures and devote myself a bit more to it all. I’ll be opening up an Etsy shop as soon as I’ve gathered a bit of an inventory to sell, I’m working on several new design ideas, re-vamping this blog of mine, considering submitting a few designs to magazines and open submissions and working on some non-design projects! It’s a good thing I can multi-task well!

If your coming over and reading my blog regularly, first, thank you so much, and second, you’ll be in for quite a few changes in the following week! Hopefully I’ll be all done and ready for my grand re-opening by next Friday!

For your crafty pleasure to keep you interested while I’m busy with my to-do list, I thought you might want to learn that the October designers challenge is up!(It has been since October 1st) Your can find the group home-page here on Ravelry if your interested. This months theme is autumn leaves, in a cowl/infinity scarf with a focus on cables. I absolutely adore cowls! I had been thinking last month that there was some perfect yarn at my LYS for a cowl, but it was a bit pricey and I didn’t want to get it and then have no motivation to finish! Then I saw the post with its gorgeous yarn prizes! It was a match made in heaven.

Thank you all so much for being patient with me as I try to change everything up. Your support means so much to me 🙂

School Blues, Reds and Greens

Standard

I know, I know, I havn’t posted in days. I’ve thoroughly given up on daily posting! I shall simple post when I have something interesting 🙂 Although I’m sure you’ve noticed by now the new page up top? ^^ “WIP Workroom” is where I’ll keep a record of all of my WIP’s (“Works in Progress” for you non-ravelry users) just in case your curious 🙂

I’ve started school and feel thoroughly confused and lost in it, but that is to be expected…during the first week 🙂
I’m sure by now some of you are wondering about the title…well at least the colorful parts 🙂 Well then lets shake things up a bit shall we? Lets start at the very end (a very good place to start).

Green – I’ve been stuck at the heel flap of my Ribbed Ribbons socks I told you about in my last post because of some crazy counting reasons (“Down With The Calculator” is NOT a good campaign, I’ve proven it) and they are very very Green.

Now lets skip to the beginning.

Blues – See “Greens”, they make me blue 🙂

Reds – O.0 ….. You expected me to have a purpose for everything? …Oh…Woops… 🙂

Now some unrelated colors that I DO have a purpose for!

Beige – I’m not sure if any of you were even aware that I finished my September designers challenge AND Wrote up the pattern AND got it tested AND am currently making the page for it on Ravelry as I wait for just a sniffle more info from a tester (Sniffle = Triffle =Smidgen =itsy bit) …aren’t you proud of me?

Pretty, Huh?

Just in case youd like to know, the challenge was to create a:

Object:Bag
Theme:Patterns in Nature
Technique:Rows of sc

You should really see the gorgeous yarn this month here!

I’m just finishing up testing and you can expect me to edit this post to add a link sometime tomorrow!

Now I’m fairly sure thats all there is for now, Ttfn!

All Laced Up

Standard

Ah, lace. It’s so light and airy and incredibly simple, I just love it! I’ve also been wanting to knit myself a pair of socks for Fall and school starting back up, and I keep seeing all these gorgeous lace front sock patterns on Ravelry! Unfortunately all the ones I would really like to make (like this pair and this pair) have been made for purchasing purposes only! Although its very true that there are some truly lovely free patterns it’s just not quite the same and, while i probably could (although with much agitation) figure out how to creating some lovely socks with my own pattern writing skills, I don’t have that terribly much experience  in sock knitting and wouldn’t want to waste many hours designing and making something that I wouldn’t really wear that much. I needed a solution. You’d think it would have come to me sooner I mean honestly, I spend nearly all my days at our local library, I just always associate it with computers and the internet now as we don’t have that at home. I mean, I get books and movies all the time from the library I just don’t usually knit from a book. So I found the book (or rather my mother did) “Socks From The Toe Up” by Wendy Knits it was perfect!

I’ve always been fascinated with toe up socks and I despise cuff-down on all the occasions I try them, and I love quite a few of the patterns in Wendy Johnsons book. My two absolute favorites are her Lace and Cable Socks and her Ribbed Ribbons Socks (Although her Labyrinth socks are great too) and as whenever I try to knit cables with tiny needles and tiny yarn they end up floppy and I didn’t love the Labyrinth socks in the “I’ll wear you until you develop so many holes I can’t patch you up anymore” way, I was set on her Ribbed Ribbons socks.

Yarn. I need yarn. I found some Sacoun Sock yarn in a pretty green that no one was using and snatched it up. I did have to do a bit of pulling out from an adbandoned project and decided to start knitting the next morning…today. I cast-on around noon and just recently finished Row 7 of the lace instep chart

The Lace hasn’t started that zig-zaggy pattern yet but I’m hoping that I just havn’t done enough of the pattern yet 🙂

Since I’ve been lately using David Bowie’s music for good “Karma” purposes here is and earlier song of his called ‘Karma Man’

Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes

Standard

Wow did I really not post for 4 days?!?!?!?! Well I did have I reason I promise you! I’m sure that you’ve noticed the new theme around you? Well I’ve decided to change things up a bit 🙂 This is still going to be a crafty blog, never fear, but I thought it needed a fresh set of duds 🙂

Well what do you think?

One of my online friends recently asked me if I could teach her to knit, she knew the basics but she wanted to make things big and fancy looking. I can’t teach. At least not by talking(Typing) and explaining, I found some patterns and typed out full pages of books and sent it all to her…she got it! Yipee! Aparently I’m very good at compiling other information into something that seemed impossible into something very reasonably worded.

Unfortunately I have no real point to this story…I just wanted to share this with you 😀

Lately I’ve been on a bit of a designing frenzy, don’t worry nothing has been made that you haven’t been told about but this all might have something to do with the wonderful new Stitch n’ Bitch book Stitch n’ Bitch Superstar Knitting.   It’s absolutely wonderful and it has a great section on designing your own patterns and writing them up.

This has to be all for now sadly but hopefully I’ll be able to tell you something exciting soon 🙂
