A Layz-about Rainy Day

Not Very Much Happened today to be quite honest. It rained so that put a plug in any outdoor plans and the rain makes me feel trapped indoors so that leaves only one thing to do today, Knit. I finally got started on my August Designers Challenge (I’m going with the pidgeon theme but it might not be quite what you expect :-)) I knit about three inches of the leg on my Bowie suit which, I don’t believe I’ve told you about yet and theres no time like the present!

David Bowie is one of my absolute favorite Pop singers (He’s right up there with The Beatles). In the 70’s he had an album and tour and show called ‘Ziggy Stardust’. He dressed up in insane costumes and makeup and his red mullet. It had come to my attention that one of my favorite costumes he wore was knit! Granted it was a giant one armed one legged unitard almost entirely covered with stripes of different patterns of intarsia but thats hardly important! I went out and got the yarn I would need and sat down and started knitting, I tyhought the leg would be the best place to start considering theres only one and it’s basically a tube until you reach the knee…I was wrong.

Here’s a picture that might help you understand my difficulties:

I have reached the part of the leg where the picture is cut off…I gave up on the yellow intarsia circles.

Ah well, slow and steady wins the race πŸ™‚

For good luck/carma purposes I shall give you another David Bowie Song today, It’s called Ashes to Ashes and the music video is really odd but really funny too…unintentionally of course πŸ™‚

A New Craft

In my last post yesterday I told you that I’ve taken up painting, yes? Well here are a few of my pieces (Remember I did warn you that I wasn’t to terribly good)

A sketch of David Bowie

A sketch of David Bowie

Made in China USA in Acrylics

Platform Shoe with Mod background in Watercolors

I have made some others but I’m afraid their not much better πŸ™‚

I am now going to inform you of the release of my newest pattern Folds on Ravelry.

It’s for sale for $3.50 on Ravelry here!

And now for your video Today, this is The Kinks ‘Lola’

Keeping up

Horrah I’m going good on my promise for every day of posting so far!

Now I don’t think I ever showed you my June/July Designers Challenge entry, did I? Well here It is, I call it Flowers and Folds.

A front view (The back is exactly the same)

The challenge was to design a Top, with Stripes, and an Oragami theme. Well I most certainly have stripes on this top and the flowers on the bottom were modeled after oragami flowers I saw πŸ™‚ .

I absolutely love the website Pinterest. I made a board here of all of my inspirations for this and that made it so much easier to remember everything.

Oh, before I forget I wnated to say something about this months designers challenge! You can of course see it here on Ravelry (Which you should because the prize yarn is beautiful), but I like to put it here too.

Object: stuffie
Theme: birds
Technique: using less than one skein

I was thinking of making a pidgeon scince they usually aren’t considered the most elegant of birds and aren’t that inspirational (aside from those pidgeon childrens books which are, undeniably, very cute).

Have I mentioned that I’ve taken up painting recently? I’m not terribly good but I’m hoping to learn more as I go, Perhaps I’ll take some pictures of some of the things I’ve done to show you πŸ˜‰ .

Ah well I’m afraid thats all for now but I’ve decided to give you some music in each of my posts at the end now. This is one by David Bowie called ‘The Man Who Sold The World’, It’s been done by many other people and groups since including Nirvana who are very good too but none shall surpass David Bowie.

By Golly!

I’ve finally decided to dedicate myself to this blog! I really havn’t in the past at all..well you know that all ready :-). Well starting now I will try to post something every day Tuesday-Friday and try to make it interesting as well!

Well thats really all I have to say for now. To finish I’ll give you a lovely song by The Beatles that’s one of my favorites, even if they are wearing funny costumes.

Long time, no see!

Wow. My last post was…months ago! I almost forgot about my blog! ah well, nothing exciting’s happened anyway…I’m in a new test crochet for a baby’s viking hat(too cute btw)a new designers challenge is up(ideas to be in next post) ooh and I have one new thing to show you πŸ™‚

Little Bitty Bobbly Wobblies

In a recent test crochet for Bowtykes, I made her unreasonably cute Ballerina Bow Flats(This is just a link to her project page since the pattern isn’t up but I’ll change it when it is)

And here are mine!

The pinks are large and the blues are small

Pink toes

And blue!

Aren’t they just too cute!

In other news( ;-D ), I’ve put up a link to the pattern of the Animal spirit baby mitts in this post!

Monkey Mitts

In case you can’t tell, it’s a baby mitten with an intarsia monkey knit into it πŸ™‚ This was(and technically still is{I havn’t photographed the second mitt}) a test knit for Vintagenettles(Ravelry) and the pattern(when it’s released) will be linked to these bold words: Animal Spirit Baby Mittens

That’s all I have to share today(unless you count this πŸ™‚ )

P.S. There’s a link up now!

Freedom, Justice and Knitting Needles

My title may seem curious(which it is) but I’m hoping that it will get your curiosity prepared πŸ™‚

I’ve finished my March Designers Challenge πŸ˜€ so that means that I’m free from the worry that I won’t finish in time(yippee!)

The justice comes from the fact that I successfully finished a pair of toe-up socks πŸ™‚

I’m sure you can all guess about the knitting needles πŸ™‚

πŸ™‚Β Β  If your interested in test-knitting these for me, I’ve put up a thread here on Ravelry!

Slowly Regaining My Accomplishments

I’ve finished my test-knit. Yay!!!! Let us rejoice πŸ˜€

Ahem, The Pattern is from Susy Romanelli, It’s called Hubby’s slouchy hat and has yet to be released(I was a tester)!

Mine is a little shorter than hers πŸ™‚ Her pattern called for chunky weight yarn and I used worsted held doubled and, can you believe I had enough of one color???

I’m now enjoying my pride in accomplishment

And more knitting πŸ˜‰

I’ve failed in a LOT of things. French, Math, even English! And I was never really “ashamed” of that sort of failure but now, I have failed myself 😦 I promised myself that I would finish my other Slipper by Tuesday, Not Done. I promised myself that I wouldn’t start any new projects until I had completed March’s Designers Challenge, 1 Hat, 1 Scarf and 2 Amigurumi’s. I’ve failed! Ok. Now I’ve said it. But I have started my peacock socks πŸ™‚ Oh didn’t I tell you? Geuss not, woops!

March’s Designers Challenge went up on March 1st. The Challenge is to create a pair of toe-up socks with the theme of peacock! If you’d like to see the actual post here it goes into detail. So although I can’t share any sketches of mine with you I can tell you what I’m going to call them……………………….. Plumage

I know, very lack-luster but it does account for a large portion of it’s non-existant self πŸ˜‰

Thats all for now ta-ta πŸ™‚
